			Hello and welcome to the coverage of the first match in the two-match Test series between West Indies and Sri Lanka, being played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana - hosting its inaugural Test match, becoming the 10th venue to stage a Test in the West Indies.
			After a disappointing Commonwealth Bank Series, Sri Lanka arrive in the Caribbean hoping to recreate some of their Test form that saw them defeat and outplay England 1-0 in the series just before Christmas. They have never won a Test match in the West Indies in four previous attempts but they have a good chance against an improving hosts who look to have put their indifferent recent past behind them. They last met two and a half years ago in Sri Lanka and it was Marvan Atapattu's side who ran out comfortable 2-0 series winners. In fact, the West Indies have never won in Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka have never won in the West Indies!
			One thing in the mind of captain Chris Gayle is that he has never led the West Indies on home soil. Both his Tests were in the West Indies while all nine of captained ODI have been away so it will be a new experience for him but he could be helped by Ramnaresh Sarwan, the man he succeeded, who returns to the fray for the first time in over eight months and he is in good form with a big century in domestic cricket last week.
			Team news for this game sees the return of Sarwan but the West Indies side does have a fairly familiar look to it, although Ryan Hinds' comes in at number six as it is thought that the wicket might take some turn (unbelievable that a Test pitch in the West Indies could take some spin!).
			Sri Lanka's side, on the other hand, sees a number of changes and new faces about it. Upul Tharanga, Chamara Silva, Farveez Maharoof, Lasith Malinga and Dilhara Fernando are all not included, either being dropped or injured. Therefore, Ishara Amerasinghe and Rangana Herath will be entrusted with the pace bowling with the evergreen Chaminda Vaas while much will be hoped for from Murali. Malinda Warnapura and Thilan Samaraweera come back into the batting order, that will again rely heavily on skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who again gives the wicket-keeping gloves to Prasanna Jayawardene.
			This will be the 11th time these sides have met in Test matches, with Sri Lanka holding an 5-2 lead with three draws. However, as mentioned earlier, the West Indies have won two of the previous four games in the Caribbean.
			The first ever Test match between the sides was in December 1993 in Moratuwa where rain ruined the game, seeing three of the scheduled six days completely washed out. This game was supposed to be a normal five-day game but after day one was abandoned, they decided to play on the rest-day ... not that it made any difference.
			The highest individual score for West Indies v Sri Lanka is 221 by Brian Lara at Colombo (SSC) in November 2001.
			The highest individual score for Sri Lanka v West Indies is 204* by Hashan Tillakaratne at Gros Islet in June 2003.
			The best bowling performance for West Indies v Sri Lanka is 8-46 by Muttiah Muralitharan at Kandy in July 2005.
			The best bowling performance for Sri Lanka v West Indies is 7-57 by Corey Collymore at Kingston in June 2003.
