Venue | County Ground, New Road, Worcester on 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th July 2007 (4-day match) |
Balls per over | 6 |
Toss | No toss made |
Result | Match abandoned |
Points | Worcestershire 4; Kent 4 |
Umpires | MJD Bodenham, RA Kettleborough |
The match was called off by the umpires after an hour of the third day. Worcestershire had chosen not to play this match at an alternative venue because they did not want to disrupt preparations for a televised NatWest Pro40 League match scheduled for July 13. In the exceptional circumstances caused by the flooding at Worcester the ECB ordered the match to be replayed starting on July 30. Following protests from all the other counties in the Division that replaying the match would give Worcestershire an unfair advantage the ECB then agreed that the match should not be replayed but they would seek unanimous support from the teams in the Division that Kent should be given 9 points from the match (instead of the 4 for an abandoned game) based on their average away points to date during the season. This proposal was not supported by Lancashire, Yorkshire, Warwickshire and Durham and so the points for this match have reverted to 4 each
