Another of the players, who has burnt his fingers for a long period in the Australian domestic circuit, North was picked up to play for his country only in the last season on the tour to South Africa. North alongside being a quality batsman also impressed the national selectors with his ability to bowl effective off-spin. The left-handed batsman started off with a vital 117 as Australia's batsmen struggled in the opening match, he scored another 38 runs in three innings and picked up two wickets to show his part-time bowling value. He has been one of the few newcomers in the Australian side from whom expectations are high to match the standards of the likes of Adam Gilchrist and Justin Langer. His impressive show for Western Australia for the last six seasons shows the 29-year-old has enough talent to come to the party.
