Biography:MP for North Wiltshire 1880-85, for Devizes 1885-92, for Liverpool West Derby 1893-1900, for Bristol South 1900-06, for Dublin South 1906-10, for Strand (Westminster) 1910-18, and for Westminster St George's 1918-21. President, Board of Agriculture 1895-1900, President of Local Govt Board 1900-05 and 1915-16; Secretary for Ireland 1905-06, Colonial Secretary 1916-18, First Lord of the Admiralty 1919-21. Created first Viscount Long, of Wraxall, in May 1921. MCC President 1906-07.
