Biography:Often identified as John Jacob Astor V, to differentiate him from similarly-named members of his family. MP for Dover 1922-45. Created Baron Astor of Hever 1956. Chairman, Times Publishing Co 1922-59, and Phoenix Assurance; Director, Great Western Railway and other companies. MCC president 1937-38.

Other Sports:With VH Pennell won gold medal in men's rackets doubles in 1908 Olympic Games; also bronze medal in men's singles.
