The 26-year-old opener has already made quite a name for him, on the basis of some very impressive performances, both at the domestic as well as international arena. He plays for Central Districts in New Zealand’s domestic circuit and has had an amazing run in the last three years. He scored 704, 682 and 592 runs in three seasons from 2002-03 to 2004-05.

The right handed opening batsman is known for playing some very big knocks as he likes to grind out the opposition bowlers, and this shows in his statistics. In 66 First Class games, he has scored 3476 runs at an average of 33, which is a healthy one for any decent opener. Riding on these great performances, he made his ODI debut in 2005 against the West Indies, and then made his Test debut against the same team. However, he failed to replicate his form on the international stage.

Since then, his form in the ODIs has been on the upswing, as he has been contributing well with the bat in matches against various teams, but his test match form leaves a lot to be desired still. In 20 ODI matches, he has scored over 700 runs at 42 apiece, while in 9 Tests, he averages only 22.
