Appellate Tribunal to deliberate upon Shoaib's appeal

A three-member Appellate Tribunal, headed by former Judge of the Lahore High Court Mr. Aftab Farrukh will start proceedings with immediate effect to consider Shoaib Akhter’s appeal against the penalty imposed on him on disciplinary grounds. The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board Dr. Nasim Ashraf constituted the Tribunal for this purpose.

 

The Tribunal will include Mr. Salman Taseer, an Entrepreneur and former Federal Minister of Pakistan and Mr. Haseeb Ahsan a former Test Cricketer of Pakistan.

 

Mr. Aftab Farrukh is an eminent and distinguished lawyer of Pakistan who has also been an office bearer of Pakistan Bar Council. He served as a Judge of the Lahore High Court from 1978 to 1981 when he did not make oath under PCO by General Zia-ul-Haq and therefore, ceased to be a Judge. He gained international repute in a number of high profile legal cases and represented Pakistan in the 46th UN General Assembly session. He has also been a prominent sportsman of international stature in the field of cycling.
