Player: | T Mupariwa |
DateLine: 20th February 2007
A right arm medium pace bowler Mupariwa was thrust by the selectors into the senior squad after being omitted from the Under-19 team following the withdrawal of the rebel players before the series against Sri Lanka in 2003-04. A product of the Bulawayo development programme Mupariwas forte is his accuracy and playing for a generally weak he has a splendid strike rate in ODIs. He has played only one Test against Sri Lanka in his hometown of Bulawayo in 2004 in which he came in for some harsh treatment. But in ODIs he has proved his value and his best has been four for 61 against Bangladesh in 2006 besides four three-wicket hauls. He was outstanding on the tour of the West Indies in 2006 picking up nine wickets in five ODIs and was a member of the squad that participated in the Champions Trophy in India later that year.
