Todmorden have signed former Rishton professional Kelly Smuts as their professional for the 2017 season.

 

Kelly had an outstanding season at Rishton in 2015 scoring 955 runs at 68.2 with three centuries and seven half centuries. He hit an unbeaten 160 in a 220 run stand for the 2nd wicket with Bradley Boddie who made an unbeaten 72 in the win over Bacup. Smuts also picked up 53 wickets with a best of 7-33 in the win at Nelson.

 

Kelly joins his brother new Enfield professional Jon-Jon in the Lancashire League next season.

 

Kelly made history in 2016 when became the first player to score a century and take 13 wickets in a First-class match in South Africa, a feat he achieved against Boland.
