Ajantha Mendis was omitted from the Sri Lankan eleven for tomorrow's third Test against India starting in Mumbai. Kumar Sangakkara confirmed this news to the waiting media.

"Mendis will have to sit out," said Sangakkara. "We'll probably go with an extra seamer than a spinner on this track, which doesn't look as dull as the one at Ahmedabad or Kanpur."
Mendis was left out of the Mumbai Test after a disappointing show at Kanpur where he picked up just 2 wickets in the whole match giving away 162 runs. With Dammika Prasad ruled out due to a hamstring injury, Sri Lanka would go in with a three-pronged pace attack comprising left-armer Chanaka Welegedara, Angelo Mathews and either Nuwan Kulasekara or Dilhara Fernando.LATEST SCORES
