When the IPL auctions for the seond season where going on, the Mumbai owners had strict instructions from none other than the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and some other key people in the team management that they want JP Duminy "at any cost". This is enough to describe the kind of talent the 25-year-old possesses. He justified the trust shown in him and has been instrumental in almost all the wins the side garnered midweek into the tournament. Duminy came into international cricket in 2004 but a spurt of inconsistent performances saw him being dropped for the side only to make a sensational comeback in 2007. On Test debut, he helped South Africa to a successful chase of 414 in Perth with an unbeaten 50, and then followed that with a serene 166 in Melbourne to rescue to his team from the prospect of a huge deficit. A few critics then said he was designed for the longer version of the game. But he was adamant to prove it wrong. In the two T20 matches that followed his knocks were a brilliant 48-ball 78 and another one was a one man show of 41-ball 69. He made a statement that he was not only good with technique, his adaptability standards matches the best in business. Since then Duminy is the rising star in South African cricket and his excellent form is a good sign for the side since the T20 World Cup is not a long distance away.
