Player: | N Deonarine |
DateLine: 3rd May 2009
Deonarine made his foray in international cricket in the midst of the contract dispute, between Digicel and Cable & Wireless, when seven players were left out of the first Test against South Africa, in March 2005. The Guyanese is a compact batsman, and a useful offspinner. Though he promised a lot, his stay in the team was short after the big guns returned. Deonarine was then kept out of the side for almost two years post which he was called back for the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in September 2007. He though even there did not make it to the final squad. His consistency in the domestic game has now earned him a recall for the 2009 England tour and if he does well, a spot in the middle order of the Windies batting line-up is up for grabs.
