Lancashire 1867-72
Born 20.2.1837 Arnold, Nottinghamshire.
Died 10.8.1907 Arnold, Nottinghamshire.
 
5ft. 6 inches tall and weighing ten and a half stone, he was a lower order right-hand batsman and a right-hand fast round-arm bowler, usually fielding at slip. 
His first recorded engagement was at Mappley Park in 1863 and 1864. From 1865 to 1868 he was engaged at Old Trafford, Manchester by the Manchester Club, in 1869 he was at Bowdon, Cheshire, and from 1870 to 1874 he was at Cheetham Hill, Manchester. 
On 12th to 14th August 1867, at Bestwood Park (the Duke of St.Alban's) in Nottinghamshire, he played for Twenty-two of Arnold against the All England Eleven, scoring 4 and 11 and taking three wickets. 
On 2nd and 3rd September that same year he played for Lancashire against Yorkshire at Middlesborough, scoring 6 not out and 6, taking no wickets in his 12 four ball overs, but taking two catches. In 1870, 16th and 17th August, he played for the county against Hampshire at Southampton and on 9th and 10th August 1872 he played against Derbyshire at Derby. That was the full total of his first-class career 
In the 1881 Census he is found living at 13 Front Street, Arnold, Nottinghamshire, aged 45, a greengrocer, with his wife Sarah, aged 43 and their daughter Mary aged 12.
