Player:GJM Edwards

Gareth Edwards was talented young off-spinner, who first played for Glamorgan`s 2nd XI in 1994 at the age of 17. The North Walian subsequently joined the county`s staff whilst reading Geography at U.C.London.

After some useful performances in second team games, Edwards won selection for the England Under 19 tour to Zimbabwe in 1995/96. However, he subsequently only made one first team appearance for Glamorgan, playing against Oxford University at The Parks in 1997 – a match that ended in defeat for the Welsh county.

Edwards left the county`s staff at the end of the 1997season, and he subsequently had a trial with Surrey in 1998. He now works for the B.B.C. in Manchester and is a researcher on the popular “A Question of Sport” programme.
