'Butch' White joined Glamorgan in 1972 after an illustrious career with Hampshire that saw the fast-medium seamer play in 315 first-class matches between 1957 and 1971. On four occasions he took over 100 wickets in a season, and he played in 2 Tests for England on the M.C.C. tour to India and Pakistan in 1961/62.

 

He was signed by Glamorgan primarily to play in one-day matches, and he duly played in eight limited overs matches in 1972 as well as the Championship fixture against Gloucestershire at Swansea.
