  • This was the 2032nd ODI in cricket history.
  • Marcus Trescothick was playing his 68th consecutive match since making his debut against Zimbabwe at the Oval on 08-07-2000. He now holds the record of playing most consecutive matches for England. The previous record was on the name of Ian Botham who played 67 matches without a break from 23-12-1977 to 09-03-1984. Incidentally India’s Sachin Tendulkar holds the world record of playing most matches at a trot. Tendulkar appeared in 185 consecutive matches from 25-04-1990 to 24-04-1998.
  • Kallis has now aggregated 700 runs in 21 games against England which makes him the leading batsman for South Africa against that country. He surpassed the tally of Hansie Cronje who had aggregated 667 runs in 22 games.
  • The fourth wicket unbroken partnership of 145 runs between Kallis and Rudolph is South Africa’s best for this wicket expunging the previous record stand of 117 between Hansie Cronje and Jonty Rhodes at Dhaka on 25-10-1998.
  • Kallis won his second successive award and 21st of his career.
